After Vivi came into the picture, we removed our big, bulky Restoration Hardware coffee table from the living room (I was ready for something more mobile and simple anyway). When we eventually finish the basement I hope to use the other coffee table down there.
We've been using two of the nesting tables as nesting coffee tables/foot rests/etc. and one as an end table, and they have been working great.
About six months ago, I spray painted the legs of the tables a metallic gold to update them a little bit.
They looked fine to me, but were too dark in the living room next to our dark brown leather couch, and were starting to look worn.
So I decided to update them yet again last week.
This time the plan was to brighten them up. I spray painted another coat of metallic gold on the legs. I love that I didn't have to tape anything since I was going to paint the tops later anyway.
After the spray paint dried, I painted one coat of the primer that we used on our DIY kitchen cabinets on the tops and sides. After it dried, I painted two coats of the same paint we used on our kitchen cabinets, trim and fireplace on the table tops (Behr Lunar Light). Once the paint dried, I sprayed with a protective clear coat.
The whole update took about 3 hours - including drying time. Not too shabby!
And I love how much brighter they make the living room feel.
And here's the larger nesting table that we use as an end table.
Vivi likes to climb these to get up onto the couch, so we usually have to keep them free of decor. I really enjoyed the five minutes that they were styled. :)
Have you done any IKEA hacks? I want to see the before and after photos if you have them. :)
Hope everyone has a great week!!
xoxo
