The Tutorial
Don't get me wrong. I love pretty, simple pumpkins, but sometimes it's more fun to pump 'em up with paint and push pins!
I took some simple pumpkins, and using some simple items I had on hand, made them a lil more fun.
All you need:
Acrylic paint and foam brush
Spray paint
Brass push pins
A marker
Polka Dot Pumpkins
This one's the easiest ever. Just take your brass push pins and stick them into the pumpkin in a polka dot pattern that makes you happy.
Sporty Pumpkins
Turn your pumpkin into your fave team or brand super easily. Just paint the pumpkin in your desired color, and let it dry.
Next, take a marker and draw the design or text you want to use.
Just trace it with the tacks, and let the, overlap each other a bit as you go.
Any paint you might scratch of fin the process can be touched up with Q-tips dipped in paint.
Glam Striped Pumpkins
Spray paint a pumpkin and let it dry.
Go around the stem with your tacks in a circle shape.
Draw rough lines around the pumpkin that will serve as your guides.
Cover all lines with tacks, making sure all tacks overlap slightly, and when you're done push all pins into the pumpkin all of the way.
Bonus: Paint Striped Pumpkins
Take your foam brush and paint and paint simple and non-perfect stripes around the pumpkin.
Leave as is when dry, or take it another step and scratch off some paint into a more rough Aztec inspired design.
Just take a sharp surface and lightly scratch off the desired paint in a pattern. I used the "unclicked" edge of an ink pen, which worked perfectly.
Just a few ideas for some super quick, easy, and affordable things you can do to pump up your pumpkins!
